Words and Music by Shawna Belt Edwards
This is a beautiful song written by Shawna Belt Edwards about the wonderful gifts given by our Savior to each of us. In our primary, the children love Gethsemane. Last year we learned Risen by Shawna Belt Edwards and I thought this song would be a great way to round out our Easter season this year because it talks about the Garden, Cross, and Ressurection. The Greatest Miracles!
Some teaching ideas
This is a challenging song to teach because the melody is not written in the accompaniment. You might have your pianist just play the melody several times as you teach the words. As your group gets more comfortable with the notes, your pianist can add the accompaniment written in the purchasable version of this song.
I like to start teaching the chorus first with my singing group. If we can get comfortable and familiar there, each time we return after verse work it will feel like a success!
I will hang the words The Greatest Miracle on the board. On the back of those words will be the pictures from the Garden of Gethsemane, Cross, and Resurrection. The children will try to guess what the greatest miracle is and then discuss how each of these acts in turn will save each of them.
Here is a video to practice with as you learn the melody.
