I Am A Child of God

This is a classic primary song. One of the basic foundational songs that all children should be singing. Each year as your new children come into primary, or if you have new converts attending your primary, you will want to teach, review and sing this song.

You could use your pictures to help teach or review the verses. Have children hold them or place them on the board. As you sing through the song, you could remove or turn over a phrase at a time as the children learn them.

A fun game would be to place the first line of the song (first flipchart picture) on the board, and then hang the other phrases around the room. The children could review the words and place the correct phrase in the correct order on the board.

I have created a flip chart for verses 1-3. You can find them here.

For the chorus, here are sign language suggestions. Children learn sign language so quickly, so this could definitely be taught in one primary singing time. Sometimes I have the children stand in a circle as they do the sign language. It is a powerful visual to see other kids doing the same signs. You could also occasionally sing the chorus without any singing and only doing the actions.
